Newsletter - December, 2016

Lord my God, you have performed many wonders for us.  Your plans for us are too numerous for us to list.  You have no equal.  If I tried to recite all you wonderful deeds, it would never come to an end.”  Psalms 40:15  This scripture describes our thoughts concerning the year of 2016 and the coming year.  This month will mark 55 years of marriage.  In February 2017 we will become the great grandparents of Benjamin Leake.  Our grandson, Josh and his wife Alyson are expecting their first child.  In March our granddaughter, Alissa, will marry Matthew Smith.  Both of them work in the City Reach Church Planting Network.  David is the youth pastor at Allison Park Church, Caleb is preparing for full time ministry and Jonathan will graduate high school in 2018.  Jeff and Melodie celebrated 25 years as pastors at Allison Park Church.

Debbie and Fausto continue to serve in many areas at New York School of Urban Ministry.  They seem to thrive when serving.  They also took a mission trips to Bethel orphanage in San Luis and the Dominican Republic in 2016.  Fausto is enrolled in Global University and studying for his ministry degree.

Michael, Jennifer, Julia, Ali and Christian love Florida.  The children 10, 8 and 6 are growing and provide us with such joy and laughter when we visit.  We are proud of their accomplishments.

We were privileged to minister to the almost 500 pastors and leaders in the Dominican Republic in 2016.  It may seem strange to Americans who live in a country where information and teaching on marriage and the family is widely taught and available but in foreign countries it is one of the most sought after topics for pastors and their churches.  Some of the countries report a divorce rate of 90%.  We have taken this as our calling and teach on this subject along with leadership skills.  These pastors live in conditions that we as Americans consider deplorable and receive little salary but they serve God totally and willingly bless others with the little they have.  They could never afford to attend a marriage seminar.  We consider it a blessing to purchase food for a conference, help with their travel, teach the conference and bless the pastors and  wives with a gift after they have renewed their vows.  These families feel it is the highlight of their year.  During Thanksgiving season were impacted by praying with the homeless on the streets of NYC and serving them a turkey dinner with Operation Drumstick.

We want to thank you for your prayers, financial gifts and jewelry collected by Becky for the women who are thrilled to receive a small piece of jewelry as a gift.  Over the years thousands of families have been impacted because of your kindness.  Pastors in Rwanda received 72 biosand filters which allows them to have clean drinking water for their village.  Through this they can share the Gospel Message.  Also in Rwanda a Christian School was built in an area populated by Muslims and a house was built for a pastor who lost his home in a storm.   We continue to help with the support of the children of Bethel Orphanage in San Luis, Mexico.  Our first trip in 2017 will be to Bethel on January 4.  A group of young adults will be joining us and we will minister in the villages, prisons, homes of shut ins, the city dump, and to the children.  The Lord has allowed us to minister in Sri Lanka where support for an orphanage was sent, India, Rwanda, twice, Nicaragua and 6 times in Cuba.  Our verse for 2017 is found in Psalms 92;14 “Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green.  They will declare, “The Lord is just!  He is my Rock!  There is no evil in Him.”  Your tax deductible contributions made payable to Allison Park Church-Acts 20:24 and mailed to 511 Yorktown Dr, Gibsonia, Pa 15044 are always greatly appreciated.  Beside our trip to Bethel Orphanage we have invitations to teach and preach in Cuba and Dominican Republic.

With a sincere heart, I pray that “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you” during this Christmas Season and 2017.  2 Corinthians 2:1  Merry Christmas!

With our Love,

Jim and Becky Leake
